Berkshire Bank has added another name to its list of bankers it’s recruited from Silicon Valley Bank and the now-defunct First Republic Bank.

Berkshire announced Monday it had welcomed David J. Coughlin as its senior vice president of private banking, serving the Boston market. Coughlin was a former managing director at SVB Private, according to the bank’s statement on Monday.

This is the second time the bank announced hires from the victims of this spring’s bank crisis, first from First Republic Bank, and now from SVB.

“We are very excited and pleased to welcome David to our team,” Elizabeth Mineo, Berkshire Bank’s managing director of private banking, said in a statement. “The role supports our continued commitment to provide exceptional service, advice, customized lending, and liquidity management solutions, delivered by experienced bankers embedded in the communities we serve.”

Coughlin has been in the financial services industry in the Boston area for more than 30 years. He has worked with professional service firms, privately held middle market businesses, and high net worth individuals and businesses. Most recently, he spent 20 years with Boston Private Bank and later Silicon Valley Bank, now a division of Raleigh, North Carolina-based First Citizens Bank, where he was a managing director at SVB Private.

At Berkshire, Coughlin will be responsible for new business development in the Boston market and supporting private banking clients.

Prior to joining Boston Private, Coughlin also held commercial banking roles with Citizens and State Street Bank.

Berkshire, Citizens Bank, Cambridge Trust Co. and several other local banks have made headlines from hiring away former staffers from the two failed banks.
