The Boston Firefighter’s Credit Union has created a fund to help support the families of Lt. Ed Walsh and firefighter Michael Kennedy.

Walsh and Kennedy were killed while fighting a nine-alarm fire in Boston’s Back Bay neighborhood on Wednesday.

"In difficult times like these, I am so proud to be mayor of a city that comes together to help our neighbors in need," Boston Mayor Martin J. Walsh said in a statement. "Since [Wednesday’s] tragic events, we’ve experienced an outpouring of support from across the city, state, and country. So many people have expressed a willingness to help, in some way, as we grieve the loss of Lieutenant Walsh and Firefighter Kennedy."

Donations to the fund can be made by visiting the website of the Boston Firefighter’s Credit Union or by mailing checks to the credit union’s headquarters in Dorchester.
