The Union is all about real estate professionals – especially housing developers – build more, and build better, co-founders Marc Savatsky and Josh Brandt say.

The two friends are themselves developers, contractors and real estate entrepreneurs, and say they want the Greater Boston real estate world to not be a “zero-sum game.” So they set out to create a space in South Boston where they could turn that vision into reality.

“If there’s a community where people are sharing information and helping one another, a rising tide lifts all boats,” Brandt said. “There isn’t a textbook. What there is, is a community  out there of people who probably do know the answer to what your problem is.”

The Union, located downstairs from the offices of Brandt’s development and contracting company Stack + Co. in South Boston, and next-door to a small condominium building Savatsky recently completed, is intended to bring those problems and answers together, Brandt said.

In addition to coworking space, The Union plans to offer programming, said Savatsky, including a regular “hard hat huddle” where members can workshop challenges they’re facing.

The space is also offering five free, year-long “fellowship” memberships to real estate professionals from diverse backgrounds, to make sure that people who might not have the means, but who do have the passion, can join.
