Clarence "Jeep" Jones, the longest serving member of Boston’s redevelopment agency, will leave his post as chairman of the board of directors.
"The venerable Chairman Jeep Jones announces he will not be seeking reappointment," the BRA announced last night on Twitter.
Jones has spent 35 years in public and community service, long affiliated with civic, church, youth and charitable organizations. In acknowledgement of his career serving others, city fathers dedicated the Clarence "Jeep" Jones Park in Roxbury in his name.
Jones joined the BRA board in 1981, serving as chairman since 1989.
