Callahan Inc. recently completed construction on the Braintree Transfer Station for the Covanta Energy Corporation. The nine-month renovation added new recycling capabilities and will reduce noise and odors, among several other improvements.

Callahan provided construction management services and associated site work for the renovation and modernization of the transfer station. The $5 million Callahan contract began in March of 2012 and the station remained fully operational during the renovation.

The project included a new enclosed staging building, a tarping and exit scale building with enclosure to reduce noise, new air filtration system for mitigating odors, a relocated resident drop off area and a new inbound scale house. Site work included expanded roadways and perimeter fencing, new trees and landscaping.
