The Summer Shack Restaurant in Cambridge opened a function facility adjacent to its newly renovated restaurant.

Completion of the 2,000-squre-foot function space marks the end of phase two of the major renovation at the restaurant’s 149 Alewife Parkway location. The expanded space can seat upwards of 125 guests and includes a full entertainment license and an award-winning menu put together by chef Jasper White.

The renovation of the space was prompted by the ever-changing corporate landscape of the Alewife area, as well as the increased demand for function space from local small businesses, civic groups, clubs and other organizations, according to a press release.

“With the increase in the number of businesses and residents in this area, we could clearly see a void in the middle market. We intended to create a venue that fills the gap in ambience, menu options and expense between the expensive hotel function rooms and the small inexpensive local venues,” White said in a statement.
