Newsweek magazine has ranked CB Richard Ellis the 45th greenest company nationwide, making it the highest ranked commercial real estate company on its 2009 Green Rankings.

"The Newsweek ranking is another strong endorsement of our corporate commitment to sustainability," said Brett White, president and CEO of CB Richard Ellis. "This achievement underscores for our clients – many of whom are also on Newsweek’s list – that CB Richard Ellis provides the industry’s most comprehensive, integrated sustainability platform, and that we are leading the way in helping businesses to reduce their impact on the environment while lowering their costs."

The list, featured in the publication’s Sept. 28 issue, measures the environmental performance of the 500 largest U.S.-based publicly traded companies. The ranking is based on each company’s actual resource use and emission levels, its environmental policies and strategies, and its reputation among its peers.

In 2007, CB Richard Ellis became the first commercial real estate services company to announce a commitment to become carbon neutral in its own operations, according to a statement.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has named CBRE an Energy star partner of the year for the past two years and the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) also awarded CB Richard Ellis its leadership award for organizational excellence.
