Steve Purpura of CBRE/New England

CBRE/New England has bolstered its Boston-based team with the addition of 48 new brokers and staff from rival Transwestern.

The new arrivals include partners Steve Purpura, John Lashar, Jon Varholak, John Barry, Ron Friedman, Eric Smith, John Wilson, Brian McKenzie, Chris McCauley, Chris Skeffington, Brian Cohen and Vicki Keenan.

“Our decision to join CBRE reflects the strong synergies we have with the firm, both locally and with their tremendous national and international platform, which bolsters our view of the increasing importance of labor-centric and data-driven real estate consulting services,” Purpura said in a statement.

CBRE/New England will continue to be led by Co-Managing Partners Andy Hoar and Kevin Doyle. The firm completed more than $6.5 billion in transactions across New England in 2017 and manages approximately 28 million square feet of space.

Purpura, Varholak, Barry, McKenzie and Wilson were founding partners of the former Richards Barry Joyce & Partners brokerage in 2001. That firm was acquired by Transwestern in 2013.

Four other Transwestern partners recently joined Cushman & Wakefield’s Boston office.
