Sheet Metal Workers Local 17

As volunteers across the region sew homemade masks, members of Boston-based Sheet Metal Workers Local 17 are fabricating and donating over 5,000 metal strips a day for the masks’ noses and delivering them to mask-makers. The strips permit a homemade mask to seal more precisely around the wearer’s nose, making for a more effective mask. As of this week, the union has made and donated over 46,000 nose pieces so far.
