
Bank of America employees recently joined Habitat for Humanity Greater Boston for a day of building in Roslindale.
East Cambridge Savings Bank, Florence Bank and Mass Bay Credit Union are among the organizations giving back to their communities in this week’s roundup.
Bank of America
On June 21, Bank of America employees volunteered with Habitat for Humanity Greater Boston to build homes in Roslindale.
Berkshire Bank
Berkshire Bank has announced the winners of its “Catch Us in the Act” photo contest, which was run in conjunction with its Xtraordinary Day, a day of community service. The contest allowed members of the public to photograph bank employees volunteering and then enter those photos into the contest via Facebook, Instagram or Twitter. The contest netted three winners and ended with Berkshire Bank donating $2,100 to 22 local nonprofits.
Commerce Bank
Commerce Bank recently announced that it will sponsor the 2016 Worcester Latin American Festival, which will be held on Saturday, Aug. 20 at the Worcester Common. As part of its sponsorship, the bank has donated $2,500 to help organize the festival.
East Cambridge Savings Bank
East Cambridge Savings Bank announced that it is sponsoring the Cambridge Public Library Summer Reading Program. The bank’s $5,000 donation will help serve over 10,000 children through the library’s “On Your Mark, Get Set, Read” program.
The bank also participated in Medford’s fifth annual Circle in the Square, a festival-style street fair that includes live performances, local artisans, crafts and shopping. The theme of this year’s Circle in the Square was “Medford Invents.”
Florence Bank
Florence Bank recently contributed $25,000 to the Sisters of Providence Health Systems to assist in the expansion of the Sister of Caritas Cancer Center at Mercy Medical Center. Sisters of Providence Health System is a nonprofit that provides various benefits to the community, including programs regarding the care for individuals with chronic diseases, health education and disease prevention services and care for individuals who are poor or uninsured.
Mass Bay Credit Union
The Mass Bay Credit Union Charitable Foundation has selected four graduating high school seniors to receive its college scholarships. The foundation awarded $800 each to Justin Hori, Bailey Peach, Monet Eugene and Colin Barnes.
Middlesex Savings Bank
The Middlesex Savings Charitable Foundation has chosen Leanne Quinn as the 2016 recipient of its $5,000 A. James Lavoie Scholarship. In the essay she submitted for the scholarship, Quinn wrote about the limited availability of non-school associated activities, proposing a nonprofit organization that would provide activities and creative outlets for local students.
MutualOne Bank
The MutualOne Charitable Foundation recently announced a $2,500 grant to Read to a Child, which will support a lunchtime reading program for students in grades one through four at the Woodrow Wilson and Brophy elementary schools in Framingham.
North Shore Bank
North Shore Bank recently presented Northeast Arc with a check for $1,200. The funds were raised through the bank’s “Jeans Day” program, which allows employees to wear jeans on Fridays in exchange for a $5 charitable donation. The money is then donated to an organization of the employees’ choice. The program has raised nearly $20,000 to date.
RTN Federal Credit Union
RTN Federal Credit Union recently hosted a Business Networking Event at LeLacheur Park, home field of the Lowell Spinners. The event network with other professionals and enjoy a barbecue. Some attendees included representatives from Nova Biomedical, Osram, Olympus NDT Inc. and Edinburg Center –The event was part of the credit union’s summer series, which will also feature a “Kids Take the Field Night,” during which children of credit union members will enjoy dugout access and other perks.
South Shore Bank
South Shore Bank recently donated $2,000 toward Weymouth’s 2016 4th of July Celebration, which will be held at George Lane Beach.
