Fort Point PM, Chapman Construction/Design and BKA Architects recently broke ground on the Mikdash Building project for Temple Beth Shalom during a ceremony in Needham.
The temple raised over $9.5 million toward the project.
Renovations will add more than 25,000 square feet of space to the 30,000-square-foot building. The central section of the building will undergo an extensive renovation with the addition of a new three-story learning and administrative wing, a second social hall and a new entrance in the reception area. The sanctuary will remain intact during the construction.
“This building, following many years of loving use, was simply no longer supporting our life as a congregation,” Rabbi Jay Perlman said in a statement. “A change needed to be made. The choice to engage in such a significant project is not easy. Done meaningfully, in ways that reflect our values, it meant engaging our entire community in conversation, envisioning, and ultimately in action.”
Fort Point PM has partnered with Chapman Construction, BKA Architects, Kelly Engineering and Hammer Walsh Landscape Design for the renovation.
