Five developers have submitted proposals to the city of Boston for projects in the Innovation District’s Marine Industrial Park.

The Boston Redevelopment Authority released a request for proposals (RFP) for the first two parcels within the city’s Innovation District in July. The city said it sought to embrace new technologies and innovative businesses within the Boston Marine Industrial Park (BMIP) while retaining and celebrating the existing industrial and seafood related businesses that currently make the BMIP a coveted business location.

The two parcels, known as Parcels M & N, have more than 6-acres of land and direct access to the highway, airport and maritime transportation.

The five proposals for Parcels M & N include:

  • American Seafood Exchange proposed developing both parcels M & N with a 365,000-sqaure-foot building for seafood cold storage, processing, packaging and related office uses.
  • Mission Center pitched a project to use 132,000 square feet for research and development, manufacturing, labs, maritime terminal and warehouse use.
  • Kavanaugh Advisors proposed developing 110,000 square feet on Parcel M and 80,000 square feet on Parcel N. Parcel M would be used for trades training facility and related office, fitness center and maritime. Parcel N would be used for cold storage facility.
  • Cabot, Cabot & Forbes of NE submitted a proposal for energy storage and creation facility, support and sub-lease office on 162,000 square feet of Parcel N.
  • Developer Harry Miller Co. proposed developing 80,000 square feet of Parcel M. Eighty percent of the space would be used for design and fabrication of canvass products and 20 percent would be used for maritime sub-lease.

The BRA will conduct an internal review of the proposals.
