The Fall River YMCA recently held a groundbreaking ceremony for the restoration project to revitalize its 50,000-square-foot facility in downtown Fall River.
The project, which is supported by a $100,000 pledge from Mechanics Cooperative Bank, will include a new education center, health and wellness facilities and equipment and a preservation effort in renovating the property at 199 North Main St.
"As a community anchor, the YMCA has been a fixture on North Main Street for as long as most people can remember," Joseph Baptista, president and CEO of Mechanics Cooperative Bank, said in a statement. "We are proud to help support an organization like the YMCA to ensure that everyone, regardless of age, income or background, has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive."
