Taunton’s Mechanics Cooperative Bank has hired Andrew C. Hewitt as senior vice president and chief financial officer, the bank said today.
Hewitt, a Kingston, R.I. resident, got his feet wet in Ohio, at Society Corp. in Cleveland, where he rose to vice president of corporate financial planning. From 1987 through 1989, he served as senior vice president and CFO for Society Bank of Dayton, Ohio – a $1.8 billion subsidiary of Society Corp. In 2000, Hewitt moved east and was appointed to the CFO and treasurer post at BankNewport.
Mechanics President and CEO Joseph T. Baptista Jr. described Hewitt as "an excellent leader with proven executive experience. His past responsibilities working for community-based banks will complement the history of our company as well as our personalized approach to customer service, and commitment to the communities we serve. We are pleased to have him as part of our team and look forward to the positive impact he will have on our organization."
