A medical tools manufacturer is joining the roster of life science and health care tenants at Cummings Center in Beverly.

American Surgical Company relocated its international operation from Salem’s Shetland Park to the property known to previous generations as “The Shoe” in its previous incarnation as the United Shoe Machinery Corp. headquarters.

American Surgical will occupy 20,325 square feet in a custom-built research and development facility at 100 Cummings Center. The company joins tenants including Beth Israel Lahey Health Specialty Care, Northeast Hospital, MassBio, Hamilton Thorne, Hettich Instruments and Sciessent

Cummings Properties business development director Al Diamond worked with Cresa Managing Principals Joe Doyle and John Coakley on the lease transaction.
