Lowell’s Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union has named 12-year-old William Grisé of Dracut the winner of the Kids in Action Summer 2010 Community Service Project.
William was awarded the grand prize of $150 for his entry and a matching $150 was awarded to William’s selected charity, St. Vincent de Paul Society through St. Francis Church in Dracut.
William won the Kids in Action project challenge for his "Project Hope Chest" using the slogan "Our stash for your cash." William, by selling used toys, video games, books and having a donation jar, raised $136.70 for his charity. He chose this charity in memory of his grandfather who passed away two months ago.
"We are pleased to present William his much deserved award," said Mark S. Cochran, president and chief executive officer of Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union. "It was William’s outstanding enthusiasm and clever idea that earned him this award. When we inspire kids to participate in projects that benefit local charities, we encourage social responsibly and awareness."
Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union also awarded cash prizes to the following children: First runner up Samuel Holdsworth, age 13 from Pelham, N.H., who held a "Save A Dog" fundraiser; second runner up Anna Mullane, age 9 of North Chelmsford, who organized an event to "Thank Our Heroes."
