After closing $20 million in funding from Tao Capital Partners in 2017, 908 Devices is expanding to 37,500 square feet at Pappas Commerce Center in South Boston’s marine industrial park.

The company, which manufactures tools used in life science and other industries, will relocate from the nearby Innovation and Design Building to the 150,000-square-foot 645 Summer St. during the third quarter. The new offices will contain a mix of office and lab space.

Boston’s ‘new economy’ requires a different type of building as innovative companies look for hybrid lab/office space,” Pappas Properties’ Andrew Pappas said in a statement. “We have created a building unlike any other in Boston.”

South Boston-based Saam Architecture is designing the tenant fitout for 908 Devices and revitalization of the building’s core and shell.

CBRE/New England’s Adam Brinch and Meredith Christensen represented Pappas Properties. Colliers International’s Evan Gallagher and Dan Collins represented 908 Devices.
