The Massachusetts Association of Realtors selected five winners for its annual awards. The winners were honored at the association’s professional awards reception at the DoubleTree Hilton in Milford on Sept. 14.

Realtor Of The Year

Barb Davis-Hassan, broker/owner of Barb Hassan Realty Inc. in Pittsfield, is the Massachusetts Realtor of the Year for 2017.

The Realtor of the Year is selected annually from among the nominees of the 13 local associations of Realtors and more than 24,000 Realtors in Massachusetts. Judging for the award is based on service to the local community, business accomplishments and service to the Realtor organization on the local, state and national levels.

Davis-Hassan is the immediate past president of the Realtors Commercial Alliance of Massachusetts. On the state level, she is a member of the Member Benefits Committee. On the national level, she serves on the Federal Financing and Housing Policy Committee.

Educator Of The Year

Allard

Kimberly Allard, instructor at Real Estate Training RX in Braintree, is the Massachusetts Real Estate Educator of the Year.

Kimberly Allard, a real estate instructor at Real Estate Training RX in Braintree, has been named 2017 Massachusetts Real Estate Educator of the Year.

Allard is a state-certified continuing education instructor in Massachusetts who writes, designs and teaches real estate courses and programs. She has taught several real estate classes for local associations including the NAR Quadrennial Ethics and the NAR Realtor Safety courses. Allard also designed, developed and teaches the South Shore Realtors’ new member orientation.

Good Neighbor Award

Elizabeth “Ella” Morawiak-Paczuska of Preferred Properties Realty in Norwell and Richard Waystack of Jack Conway Real Estate in Harwich Port were named MAR’s 2017 Good Neighbor Award winners for their work on behalf of Project Health CV Inc. and the Bob Murray Housing with Love Walk, respectively.

Established in 2004 and presented annually, the Good Neighbor Award recognizes Realtors who have demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to community service through volunteerism and civic and charitable contributions that improve the lives of local residents and make their community a better place to live.

Elizabeth “Ella” Morawiak-Paczuska of Preferred Properties Realty in Norwell was named MAR’s 2017 Good Neighbor Award winner for her work on behalf of Project Health CV Inc.

For the past few years, Morawiak-Paczuska has made annual trips to the islands of Cape Verde on medical missions with Project Health CV Inc., providing support to the resource-strapped health facilities there. She has helped raise over $50,000 for the project and used her personal connections to obtain wheelchairs and critical medical supplies for the people of Cape Verde.

Waystack has participated in the annual Bob Murray Housing with Love Walk every year for the past four years, walking from the tip of Cape Cod in Provincetown to Falmouth. The seven-day walk aims to raise money and awareness for local housing agencies like the Housing Assistance Corporation on Cape Cod. Over the past 18 months, Waystack’s team raised almost $3,000 to help with housing challenges facing the Cape Cod region.

Realtor Gary Rogers, broker/owner of RE/MAX On the Charles in Waltham, is the 2017 recipient of the Milton H. Shaw Distinguished Service Award.

First awarded in 1984, the Milton H. Shaw Distinguished Service Award is presented annually to one Realtor member or staff executive who has demonstrated outstanding leadership abilities and volunteered countless hours of personal time to serve on state association committees and participate in MAR activities.

A Realtor since 1987, Rogers has been an active member of his local association’s board of directors. He was chair of the Greater Boston Association of Realtors’ (GBAR) Regional Outreach Task Force and has served on the Professional Standards Committee.

On the state level, Rogers was named the 2005 MAR Realtor of the Year. Rogers served as GBAR’s regional vice president in 2005 and MAR president in 2009. He has served several terms on the board of directors and is an active member of the MAR Conference and New England Realtors Conference committees.

Rogers was the 2014 National Association of Realtors’ Region 1 vice president and has been on NAR’s board of directors for the past seven years. He has also served on NAR’s Executive Committee in 2014, was a member of the Personnel Committee, and was the chair for the Members Communication Committee. Currently, he is the vice chair of the NAR Conference Committee.

Rogers currently serves as the Northeast Region Council of Residential Specialists finance leader and will be the region chair in 2018.
