Mechanics Cooperative Bank has donated $10,000 to the Fall River United Way to help support food pantries and soup kitchens.

"The Fall River United Way has long been a crucial resource to the city of Fall River and its residents," said Joseph T. Baptista Jr., president and CEO of Mechanics Cooperative Bank. "At Mechanics Cooperative Bank we are not only proud corporate supporters, but personal supporters as well through weekly payroll deductions – proof that our local employees understand the amazing work made possible by Executive Director Robert Horne and the entire staff at the Fall River United Way."

The donation will help support and complement the federal fundraising campaign serving over 35 health and human service agencies in the Fall River area. Last year, the United Way and their affiliated agencies served more than 64,000 people in need within our community, according to a statement.

"Without this financial support and the commitment of Mechanics Cooperative Bank many local organizations and thousands of people in Greater Fall River would not get the help they need," said Horne.
