Mayor Thomas Menino will celebrate the groundbreaking for The Kensington, a 27-story luxury high rise in Boston’s Chinatown.
The event is scheduled for 2 p.m. this afternoon.
The $170 million tower will add 318 new rental housing units and contribute to the ongoing revitalization of the area.
The project will create 400 construction jobs and 30 permanent jobs. The Kensington is expected to open in the summer of 2013, Menino said in a statement.
Menino will be joined by city officials and Kensington Investment Co. executives.
