Chelsea-based Metro Credit Union has opened a new branch in Reading, the credit union’s 15th branch.

The new location is a 470 Main St. in Reading. Metro, which is the second largest credit union in Massachusetts and the largest with a state charter, has branches throughout Middlesex, Suffolk and Essex counties.

The new full-service branch features a nontraditional open space, Metro said in a statement, and the location offers resources for mortgage lending, commercial banking, and investment services, as well as a coin counting machine.

Ilva Velmishi is the branch manager at the new location, and Greg Allen is the assistant branch manager.

“We are excited to further expand our branch network to offer more access and better serve Reading and its surrounding communities,” Robert Cashman, Metro president and CEO, said in the statement. “It’s yet another milestone in our close to 100-year history that we continue to provide a positive banking experience with those who bank with us.”
