Middlesex Savings Bank announced this week that it has promoted Sean F. Burke to chief technology officer.
Burke has more than 35 years of experience leading technical operations, security and information strategies in the banking and financial industry. He joined Middlesex in 1997 as system administration manager most recently held the role of senior vice president and director of information technology. Burke has served on numerous strategic planning committees within the bank. As a manager, he built and directed an IT team responsible for managing enterprise-wide technology projects, financial applications that support the bank’s business and servicing divisions and fostered vendor relationships.
“Sean is a proven leader who embraces technical innovation and is adept at translating business and customer needs into actionable technology plans,” President and CEO Michael McAuliffe said in a statement. “He is a highly valued member of our executive management team who will play an active role in setting the technology direction and vision for the bank.”
Prior to joining the bank, Burke worked for 16 years for Olivetti North America in Burlington in several technical support and instructor positions. As a member of the corporate network engineer team, he scoped, designed and implemented a network solution optimizing Olivetti’s online transaction application for banks and credit unions.
The executive management team is now under McAuliffe’s leadership. He has held the post of president since September of last year and recently took up the role of CEO with the retirement of John R. Heerwagen.
