Salem Five recently promoted Executive Vice President Bruce Potter to COO.

Potter has been with Salem Five for more than 20 years and was promoted to executive vice president in 2013. In that role, he has overseen enterprise risk management, legal, internal audit and compliance and an enhanced role in business line management and strategic planning.

“It’s been a privilege to work closely with Bruce for two decades,” President and CEO Ping Yin Chai said in a statement. “We share a strong commitment to remain a mutual bank, as well as loyal to our customers, employees and community. Bruce’s transition into this role is a natural evolution of his career at the bank. I look forward to working with him for many years to come.”

Potter began his career at Salem Five in 1996 as vice president and underwriting manager. Prior to that, Potter was senior vice president at Chaston Assoc. Inc., an independent loan review firm. He also worked as a national bank examiner in the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency within the U.S. Department of the Treasury.
