Westchester Modular Homes of Greater Boston (WMHGB), a firm specializing in the design, planning and construction of high-quality modular residences, has unveiled plans to build a new showroom in Saugus.

WMHGB, an outgrowth of the firm James V. Caggiano and Son, has completed the purchase of a 1-acre parcel of land at 1288-1294 Broadway (Route 1), Saugus. The vacant land will serve as the location for the modular home showroom and sales center.

Scott Jones Sr. CEO, said that site preparation will begin immediately, and he anticipates that the new building will be completed by April 2011.

WMHGB is working with Westchester Modular Homes, a Wingdale, N.Y., modular manufacturing facility, on the design and construction of the new showroom. Jones and a number of senior planners at the factory collaborated on the design for the Saugus showroom. Construction of the future Saugus showroom will take place at the company’s N.Y. factory, in a climate-controlled, weather-tight environment.

"Over the years there has been a dramatic increase in modular construction because of its many advantages," Jones said. "It is this interest that led us to create this all new company and to take these steps even in this recessionary economy. We recognize that in order to do justice to the modular construction advantage we need an actual showroom, not a catalog."

The land acquisition and construction together represent an investment in excess of $1 million. Until the new showroom and sales center is ready, WMHGB will continue to operate from the company’s office suites in Lynnfield, where sister company James V. Caggiano and Son is located.
