Old Town Trolley Operator Buys Malden Center Property

A company that provides historic-themed tours including the Old Town Trolley will relocate to Malden after buying a former bakery building near the downtown.

Historic Tours of America acquired 129 Commercial St. for $21 million from Oliver Street Capital and Bain Capital.

Historic Tours of America will expand after completing improvements to the property, according to Boston Realty Advisors which represented the sellers.

“The ability of Historic Tours of America to perform as a buyer in what is still a competitive urban infill landscape helped to secure this off-market opportunity,” BRA Managing Director Mike Jezienicki said in a statement.

The Oliver Street-Bain partnership acquired the former Piantedosi Baking Co. property in 2020 for $10 million.
