Robert C. Buffum Jr. has been appointed to the policy group of Boston Private Bank & Trust Co.

The policy group, consisting of Boston Private Bank’s senior management and department heads, oversees the day-to-day management of the bank and sets its overall policy and strategic direction. 

Buffum reports to the bank’s CEO & President, Mark Thompson.

Buffum joined Boston Private Bank in 1997 as a commercial lender, bringing over 20 years of finance experience in middle-market business banking, commercial real estate lending, credit administration and asset management. Buffum was promoted to chief credit officer in 2001, responsible for establishing and maintaining the strong credit principals of Boston Private Bank.

 In 2006, he assumed the role of chief risk officer, expanding his responsibilities to include residential mortgage underwriting, compliance, the financial intelligence unit and the fraud team.
