Rockland Trust has donated $43,200 to the Franklin Food Pantry to renew the pantry’s rent-free lease for the fifth consecutive year.
The Franklin Food Pantry provides 2,600 to 3,200 pounds of food to area residents each week and has been a part of the Franklin community for more than 20 years.
Rockland Trust first leased 43 West Central Street, which is in the same plaza as the bank’s Franklin Main Street branch, on behalf of the Franklin Food Pantry in 2009 when the pantry had lost its previous space in the town. Since that time, the bank has donated more than $215,000 in rent-free space.
Rockland Trust recently concluded its own month-long food drive throughout its entire service area in Massachusetts, including its new Metro North communities and Greater Providence. The bank also donated more than $13,750 to local food banks.
