Rockland Trust Bank opened its second retail branch in Worcester last week as part of its ongoing expansion in Central Massachusetts.

The new office in the South Plaza on Grafton Street joins the Grove Street branch, which opened in early 2020. Rockland Trust also plans to open a Shrewsbury branch early next year. The new branch features two ATMs with video teller technology.

“We’re delighted to increase our presence in Worcester while being able to expand our reach to the community with Rockland Trust’s exceptional banking services,” Margaret McCarthy, Rockland Trust’s senior vice president and director of retail administration, said in a statement. “We know that relationships with our local communities are critical to our growth and success. Rockland Trust is fully investing in Worcester, and we look forward to expanding our relationships to this thriving community.”

Since entering the Worcester market in 2018, Rockland Trust has opened a commercial lending center and an investment management office. The Shrewsbury branch will be the bank’s sixth retail branch in Worcester County.

Shana Hazen, branch manager at Rockland Trust’s Grove Street location, will transfer into the same role at the Grafton Street branch. Hazen previously worked as a branch manager for 16 years at Commerce Bank’s Grafton Street office. Hazen will lead a team of four relationship bankers.

Yessica Aznar will become the new leader at the Grove Street location. Aznar has worked in retail banking for 14 years and was the branch manager for Santander Bank in Worcester from 2016 to 2020. The Grove Street branch is currently closed until Dec. 17 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, according to Rockland Trust’s website

Rockland Trust Charitable Foundation commemorated the opening of the second Worcester branch with $5,000 donations to Girls Inc. of Worcester and Friendly House.
