Dorothy Savarese, president and CEO of The Cape Cod Five Cents Savings Bank, was appointed to the board of directors of the American Bankers Association (ABA) at its annual convention this week in New Orleans.

"As the leader of our mutual community bank, I look forward to the opportunity to help influence policy in Washington as a voice for our customers and the communities we serve," Savarese said in a statement. "My appointment gives us a chance to make a difference and is a reflection on the outstanding reputation of the Cape Cod Five and the hard work of our employees."

Savarese became president and CEO of Cape Cod Five in 2005. She is chairman of the board of directors, executive committee and chairman of the Cape Cod Five Cents Savings Bank Charitable Foundation Trust and secretary on the board of trustees of the Cape Cod Community College. She also serves on the boards of the Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce, Massachusetts Bankers Association and American Bankers Mutual Insurance Ltd and is a member of the FDIC Advisory Committee on Community Banking.
