Pappas Commerce Center in Boston’s Seaport District has attracted a second life science tenant, bringing the recently repositioned flex building up to 50 percent occupancy.

Brookline-based Akouos will occupy 37,500 square feet of lab space on the second floor of 645 Summer St. The company, which is developing gene therapies to treat hearing loss, raised $50 million in series A venture capital financing co-led by 5AM Ventures and New Enterprise Assoc. last summer.

CBRE’s Adam Brinch and Meredith Christensen represented Pappas Properties in the latest lease transaction, which leaves 75,000 square feet available in the building. CBRE’s Carolyn Wheatley represented Akouos.

645 Summer St. contains 150,000 square feet of office, lab and flex space with 15-foot ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows.

Life science equipment manufacturer 908 Devices leased 37,500 square feet at Pappas Commerce Center last spring in a relocation from the Innovation and Design Building.
