Rockland Trust Co., the commercial bank subsidiary of Independent Bank Corp., has appointed Denis Sheahan as its COO. He previously served as the company’s chief financial officer.

In his new role, Sheahan will assist business units in growing and deepening customer relationships and improve the quality and cost of service delivery. The company’s chief financial officer and chief marketing officer will both report to Sheahan, who will continue existing oversight responsibilities for residential mortgage, corporate compliance and risk management, municipal services, information technology, loan operations and facilities.

“I am extremely pleased to have Denis Sheahan, a disciplined and talented executive who has been an integral part of our success, take on a new position and additional responsibility,” Christopher Oddleifson, president and chief executive officer of Independent Bank Corp. and Rockland Trust, said in a statement.

Sheahan has worked at Rockland Trust for 17 years and had been the chief financial officer of Rockland Trust and Independent Bank Corp. since 2000. 

In addition to Sheahan’s hiring, the company appointed Robert Cozzone as chief financial officer and treasurer of Independent Bank Corp. and Rockland Trust. Barry Jensen was named chief information officer of Rockland Trust and Mark Ruggiero was named controller and principal accounting officer of Independent Bank Corp. and Rockland Trust.  

Cozzone and Jensen have worked at Rockland Trust for 15 years. Cozzone had been treasurer of Rockland Trust and Independent Bank Corp. since 2008; Jensen had served as serving as controller since 2000 and as principal accounting officer since 2008. Ruggiero had been assistant controller of Rockland Trust for four years.
