Richard Shelton, of Boston, has been appointed as a mortgage loan officer at Citizens Bank’s Dedham office.

In his position, Shelton will originate a number of mortgage programs, including both conventional and government loans, according to a statement.

Shelton has 15 years of experience in the mortgage business. He previously served as loan officer for Sovereign Bank.
