Nordic Properties has signed two new leases totaling 47,371 square feet of space at its 1000 Washington St. property in Boston.
The new tenants bring the 242,000-square-foot property to roughly 78 percent occupany, according to CB Richard Ellis (CBRE), which is marketing the building.
The 11-story property was formerly owned by Teradyne Inc. According to data obtained from The Warren Group, publisher of Banker & Tradesman, the building was last assessed at more than $12 million in 2007.
The new leases include 18,500 square feet over 10 years for Unidine Corp., a food and dining management services company that serves hospitals, senior facilities and businesses. The company will relocate its headquarters to 1000 Washington St. from its current office at One Gateway Center in Newton. Unidine will occupy space on the fifth and 11th floors, with the 11th floor serving as a culinary training center and test kitchen. Unidine will also operate the dining services throughout the building. FHO Partners represented Unidine in the transaction, and CBRE represented Nordic Properties, an affiliate of Nordblom, in the transaction.
"This move is a critical component of our strategy to position the company for growth," said Unidine President Richard Schenkel.
The second lease was for 28,871 square feet to National Indemnity Co., a property/casualty member of the Berkshire Hathaway group of insurance companies, which leased the entire fourth floor and a portion of the second floor of the building. Cushman & Wakefield represented Nordic and Newmark Knight Frank represented National Indemnity in the deal.
