Teshia Levy-Grant

Webster Bank has hired a leader from a top New England liberal arts college to head up its internal workforce diversity and inclusion efforts.

Tenisha Levy-Grant was Wesleyan University’s dean for equity and inclusion since 2016. There, she developed and implemented university-wide, multicultural programs and educational access opportunities.

In her role at Waterbury, Connecticut-based Webster Bank, Levy-Grant will hold the title of senior vice president and diversity and inclusion officer. She will be responsible for long-term planning and execution of programs aimed at promoting a diverse workforce and fostering an open and inclusive work environment at the bank. She also will lead Webster’s Diversity and Inclusion Council and work to expand its network of employee resource groups.

In addition to leading the $30 billion-asset bank’s efforts internally, Levy-Grant will be responsible for expanding the bank’s diversity programs and partnerships within the communities it serves, as well as at colleges and universities.

“Providing a diverse and inclusive environment is a key priority at Webster,” Executive Vice President and human resources officer Bernard Garrigues said in a statement. “We look forward to working with Teshia to help us advance our [diversity and inclusion] efforts across the organization.”

Levy-Grant holds a bachelor’s degree from Wesleyan University and a master’s of science in counseling from Central Connecticut State University. She has served as anti-bias and diversity education program facilitator for the Anti-Defamation League of Connecticut, working with education administrators on policies and procedures regarding issues of inclusion and diversity.

Webster Bank has 29 branches in Massachusetts, including 16 in the Greater Boston area.
