The 25-year-old Westin Waltham Boston hotel has completed a $10 million renovation of all 351 rooms at the mirrored-glass landmark overlooking Route 128.

The project involved the installation of Westin’s 10-layer "heavenly bed" mattresses, pillows and duvets and technology upgrades including new outlets to connect electronic devices to high-definition TV’s. Other new features include low flow toilets, LED light bulbs, smart thermostats and new room entry technology.

Common areas also are getting a facelift, with the lobby recently renovated and a redesign of the bar and restaurant taking place through the summer.

Hotel construction and renovation projects are booming in greater Boston as investors look to capitalize on the region’s rising occupancy rates and room fees.

Park Lodge Hotel Group is adding 51 rooms to its Marriott Courtyard property in Waltham as part of a $32-million transaction that also includes refinancing of existing debt on the property and the 108-room Holiday Inn Express in Waltham.

Hospitality industry researcher PKF Consulting USA estimates that 2,400 new hotel rooms will hit the greater Boston market in 2015 and 2016. The region had the nation’s fifth-highest average daily room rates of $191 during 2013, according to PKF.
