Worcester-based Bay State Savings Bank received the Better Business Bureau’s 2012 Torch Award for Marketplace Ethics on Nov. 1. The award was presented to bank President and CEO Peter Alden by BBB Executive Director Nancy Cahalen in front of a luncheon crowd at the Central Massachusetts Business Expo.
The Torch Awards are presented to businesses for their commitment to maintaining a culture that consistently sets exceptionally high standards of behavior in buyer and seller relationships.
"It is an honor to receive this prestigious award," said Alden in a statement. "My sincere appreciation goes to all of our incredible employees and directors for setting the example and leading the way."
Bay State Savings Bank also received an "Honor Roll Certificate" from the Better Business Bureau, recognizing the bank as an accredited business since 1968.
