Cambridge Savings Bank has been given the charitable giving award from the Lexington Chamber of Commerce, an award given each year to a local business that financially supports local organizations and community-based causes.

As part of their 175th anniversary celebration, Cambridge Savings Bank donated $175,000 distributed between 14 non-profit affordable housing organizations including $5,000 to Lexington Housing Partnership.

"During the past year, Cambridge Savings was not only supportive of several key events organized by the Lexington Chamber of Commerce, but they showed an exceptional level of support to numerous affordable housing organizations within the Boston area," said Mary Jo Bohart, executive director, Lexington Chamber of Commerce. "This is highly noteworthy and certainly a testament to Cambridge Savings Bank’s ongoing role as a good corporate citizen."

The bank also donated $5,000 to the Belmont Fire Department’s Student Awareness of Fire Education (S.A.F.E) program.

Belmont’s S.A.F.E. program brings trained fire and life safety educators to the classroom to conduct fire safety education programs for students in grades K-12

"We are grateful for the donation Cambridge Savings Bank has made to the S.A.F.E program," said Lieutenant Stephen Hodgdon, lead S.A.F.E. educator. "Their support helps us continue to educate the students of Belmont which enables them to recognize the dangers of fire."
