The Cape Cod Five Cents Savings Bank was recently honored by MassHousing for its commitment to affordable homeownership.
Cape Cod Five was the No. 1 MassHousing lender in Barnstable County for the fourth consecutive year with 75 loans totaling $15.5 million in 2013.
MassHousing (The Massachusetts Housing Finance Agency) is an independent, quasi-public agency charged with providing financing for affordable housing in Massachusetts. The agency provides fixed-rate, 30-year mortgages with low down payments and competitive rates, as well as second mortgages to allow homeowners to make general repairs, and to upgrade septic systems. Each year, MassHousing recognizes its top lenders for excellence in promoting and originating MassHousing’s mortgage products which are designed to help low and moderate income Massachusetts residents buy and maintain their homes.
"At Cape Cod Five we are dedicated to making a meaningful contribution to the communities we serve. The health and vitality of our economy requires that the people who live and work on the Cape can afford to purchase a home here. Providing responsible lending for affordable housing is not only essential for the well being of our communities, it is the right thing to do," Dorothy A. Savarese, president and CEO of The Cape Cod Five Cents Savings Bank, said in a statement.
