Hanscom Federal Credit Union opened a new branch in South Bay Center in Dorchester in September, an area undergoing an extensive expansion.

“We’re very excited by all of the growth in this area and in Dorchester as a whole, and especially to be a part of it,” Ray Phillips, Hanscom Federal Credit Union’s chairman of the board, said in a statement. “Many hours were devoted to finding the perfect location to reach as many of our local members as possible, and South Bay Center provides the exact convenience and atmosphere we had been searching for. We’re happy to be joining and serving this vibrant community.”

Located at 8 District Ave., the full-service branch is open seven days a week and includes a deposit-taking ATM and a coin counting machine members can use for free. South Bay Center is home to businesses ranging from retailers and dining establishments to new apartments and open community space. The area is the site of multiple expansion projects.

Headquartered at Hanscom Air Force Base, the credit union has 22 branches and more than 91,000 members across the country and overseas.
