Fall River-based Mechanics Cooperative Bank is donating $300,000 to the new Southcoast Centers for Cancer Care in Fairhaven.

The cancer center will bring together state-of-the-art therapy and high quality care for Southcoast cancer patients and their families, according to a statement. The new outpatient facility is scheduled to open in April.

"Residents will now have the opportunity to receive quality treatment at a local facility, close to home, and close to their families," said Joseph T. Baptista Jr., president and CEO of Mechanics Cooperative Bank.
