An influential ranking of the top executives in residential real estate counts at least one figure from the Bay State: MLS PIN CEO Erminio Grasso.
The Swanepoel Power 200, published annually by brokerage consultancy T3 Sixty, bills itself as “the definitive ranking of the residential real estate industry’s executives and leaders,” and it’s no sure thing for any Massachusetts real estate industry figures to land on the list.
To make the cut, among other qualifications, someone must lead or be a senior executive at a brokerage company with more than $3 billion in annual sales volume, at a real estate tech firm with a large user base – for example, over 1,000 broker or team clients or 50,000 agent users – or at an MLS organizations with over 40,000 subscribers, a local Realtor association with over 20,000 members or a state Realtor association with more than 50,000 members.
Grasso’s citation noted his role in leading MLS PIN to settle a commission lawsuit lodged against it – an ongoing process with federal regulators also weighing in. He is also a former Coldwell Banker regional executive.
Grasso joined several other MLS executives, like California Regional MLS CEO Art Carter, and BrightMLS CEO Brian Donnellan, as T3 Sixty said it sought to recognize the growing importance of MLS executives amid an uncertain future for commission standards and other bedrock rules that have governed the residential real estate industry for the last several decades.
“The leaders featured in the SP 200 really showed what it takes to be a strong and dynamic leader in 2023. Despite facing some of the toughest challenges in their careers, they refused to pull back or back down. Instead, they embraced action, laying the foundation for innovation, expansion and growth. These are precisely the qualities we acknowledge in the SP 200,” Jack Miller, president and CEO of T3 Sixty, said in a statement.
