People’s United Chief Named To FSR Board

The Financial Services Roundtable (FSR) this week announced a new slate of officers and directors for 2016, including the president and CEO of People’s United Bank.

John P. Barnes will serve a term on the trade association’s board of directors until 2018.

Ajay Banga, president and CEO of MasterCard, will serve as FSR’s 2016 board chairman. FSR’s 2016 chairman-elect is Brian T. Moynihan, chairman and CEO of Bank of America Corp. William H. Rogers Jr., chairman and CEO of SunTrust Banks Inc., will serve as chairman of BITS, FSR’s cybersecurity and technology policy division, through 2017. Kessel Stelling, chairman and CEO of Synovus, will continue as FSR’s 2016 treasurer.

Barnes joined the Bridgeport, Connecticut-based People’s United Financial in 2008 with the company’s acquisition of Chittenden, and he was named president and CEO in July 2010.
