The council, which provides services and programs to more than 26 percent of the senior population, is currently operating out of temporary facilities at the town offices and is in the process of renovating the Old Center School for the purpose of creating a senior center. Funds given by RBT will help the center achieve an earlier opening date, according to a statement.

"When the Shirley Council on Aging approached us to help with this project, we readily agreed," said Marty Connors, president and CEO of Rollstone Bank & Trust. "The bank is proud to support a program that helps our community’s senior citizens."
