Boston-based Cronin Development’s 22-story luxury condo tower began vertical construction this week following over two years of foundation and prep work on the waterfront site.

Arrival of the tower crane marked a significant step in the $341 million St. Regis Residences, Boston project located at 150 Seaport Boulevard, the former home of the Whiskey Priest pub and Atlantic Beer Garden. Construction crews led by general contractor John Moriarty and Associates of Winchester have installed 10,500 cubic yards of reinforced concrete and structural elements mounted on bedrock reaching more than 150 feet below-grade.

Designed by Elkus Manfredi Architects, the tower will feature unique concrete slabs on each floor to create a twisting, sail-inspired facade, Cronin Development said.

Groundbreaking in 2018 was delayed after Conservation Law Foundation filed a lawsuit challenging the project’s approval, citing violations of state laws governing waterfront development. The lawsuit was settled in 2018.
