Eastern Adds Deposit Feature To Mobile App

Boston-based Eastern Bank says it has launched a mobile deposit feature as part of its mobile banking app for iPhone and Android phones.

The feature allows customers to make deposits by snapping pictures of their checks with their mobile phones.

The upgrade makes managing money simple for customers, the bank said in a statement. "If you can take a picture with a smart phone, you’ll find that depositing a check through ‘mobile deposit’ is just as easy," Joe Riley, bank executive vice president, said in a statement.

Mobile deposit is fully integrated into the mobile banking app Eastern launched in 2007.
