Spencer Savings Bank and its employees raised more than $350 during its Customer Appreciation Day for the Jimmy Fund, which works to fight against cancer in children and adults.
The bank’s Customer Appreciation Day was held in conjunction with Red Sox Opening Day. On that day, employees were asked to donate $5 each in order to be able to wearing Red Sox apparel to work, according to a statement.
"The fight against cancer is something that affects so many people. For many of us, this was more than just having an opportunity to show team spirit during working hours," said K. Michael Robbins, Spencer Savings Bank president and CEO. "Our employees are always willing to help us support charitable causes in our community. We were all motivated to make a collective donation to the Jimmy Fund."
